Group continues its buy-and-build strategy by adding three new clinics to its growing network of exceptional veterinary practices in the UK
We are delighted to announce that our portfolio company, Kin Vet Community, has completed the simultaneous acquisition of two well established veterinary groups: The Vet Whetstone in North London and Aspen Veterinary Surgery along with its partner practice Ewell Veterinary Centre in Surrey. The group has also secured a bespoke funding facility from Shawbrook Bank to support its continued UK expansion and buy-and-build strategy.
Perwyn invested in Kin Vet in 2023 to support the team’s ambition of building a network of independent, high-quality, vet-led practices across the East and Southeast of England. Since then, Kin has completed four acquisitions and now comprises eight veterinary groups operating across 22 sites. Leading by example through its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of wellbeing for veterinary practitioners, care for pets, alongside service to clients. Kin is committed to keeping these values at the core of its ethos, whilst preserving the unique character of each practice that joins the group.
To support the latest acquisitions and future pipeline opportunities, Shawbrook Bank has structured a bespoke unitranche and acquisition facility. The transaction was delivered through Shawbrook’s Financial Sponsors team and builds on a long-standing relationship that spans multiple Perwyn-backed businesses.
The Vet Whetstone, founded in 2002 by Albert Moussafir DrMedVet MRCVS, is an Approved Nurse Training Practice known for its strong nursing team and advanced surgical capabilities. Aspen and Ewell were acquired by Peter Melville BSc BVMS MRCVS and John Ball in the 1990s and have delivered trusted, high quality care with a family feel to the Surrey community for over 60 years. Peter Melville will continue to lead the practices, which retain their full complement of staff.
Gurinder Sunner, Partner at Perwyn, commented:
“We were delighted to enter the veterinary sector in 2023 through backing the creation of Kin Vet Community, and are immensely proud of how the business has grown in that time – both organically and through acquisitions. Kin represents a distinctive consolidation platform in the UK, providing the best-in-class veterinary care across local communities.
“These latest additions further enhance Kin’s collaborative care model, and we are pleased to once again partner with Shawbrook to support the next phase of growth. With strong leadership and a clear M&A strategy, Kin is well positioned to continue delivering sustainable expansion and exceptional care.”
Ciara Mc Cormack MVB MRCVS, CEO of Kin Vet Community, said:
“We are delighted to welcome The Vet Whetstone, Aspen veterinary Centre and Ewell veterinary Surgery into Kin Vet Community. These practices share our values of clinical excellence, community focus and compassionate care, and we look forward to supporting their teams as part of our growing, collaborative network.
“With Perwyn’s continued dedication to accelerating our growth, and Shawbrook’s tailored funding support, we are well positioned to continue expanding our network and elevating the standard of pet care throughout the UK.”
Kin Vet Community remains interested in hearing from like-minded independent practices interested in becoming part of a collaborative community looking to uphold the highest standards and provide the best quality of service and care.
